Dr. Barbara Kohlfeld and Grant Skelton were honored at an awards ceremony held on the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus.

Dr. Kohlfeld, a career-long educator, has been inspiring young minds for more than four decades. She has served as principal of Blanchard Elementary since 2000, was the principal of May Greene and was the Gifted Education facilitator for Cape Girardeau Public Schools.  She is known for her unwavering leadership. She has a way of demanding excellence from students and staff alike.

Grant Skelton is a freshman at Cape Central High and  is being honored for his work with the Granting Grace Foundation, a nonprofit organization he developed on his own. The organization focuses on providing support to  individuals in need in southeast Missouri. Over the last seven years, Grant has raised more than $80,000 through his foundation, positively impacting the lives of people in our community.

Thank you to both of these Tigers for serving as an example to all of us.
