The Cape Girardeau Public Schools (CGPS) Board of Education will host interviews on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 for the position of superintendent of schools
“We are very excited to have two highly-qualified candidates to interview for this position,” said Matthew Welker, CGPS Board President. “We as a board understand how important this role is to our entire Cape community, and are committed to finding a leader who will continue to operate with a students-first mindset.”
The CGPS Board began taking applications for superintendent on February 1, 2023 after Dr. Neil Glass, who has served as superintendent since 2017, announced his retirement in January. Dr. Glass will continue to serve in the position until the end of June.
CGPS was established in 1867 and, today, is one of the most diverse districts in the state of Missouri serving 4700 Pre-Kindergarten through adult students. The District is one of the largest employers in Cape Girardeau County with over 500 staff members working in what is described by staff as a family-like culture and climate. CGPS educators prioritize students' well-being and academic success while providing wrap-around services through the generous support of the Cape Girardeau community.
